Answers to common questions about Pasadena Marriage Counseling.
Here is a list of the top questions people often ask about marriage counseling and the couples therapy process.
Couples have told me that they didn’t believe therapy could help them, but they came just to say they tried everything before a divorce. Many of them later said that counseling helped their marriage to become better than it was on their wedding day! An unbiased counselor can usually help a couple that is willing to make their relationship improve. You will judge for yourself how our sessions help you. Couples often see positive changes after the first few sessions.
I am confident that I can help you move toward the changes you hope for, but no therapist can guarantee an outcome. I can guarantee that I will give you the best of my training and experience. As we work together, we may even fix things in your relationship that you don’t even realize contributes to the problem.
I suggest you start therapy even if you are the only one willing to get help. Your spouse may change his/her mind and come to later sessions. Even if he or she does not come, you will often feel better and have some new insights into the needs of your relationship. Some spouses prefer to have individual counseling for their own needs, and this too can often help the marriage.
Weekly sessions are usually the best schedule for addressing your needs. If you are in a crisis, we may initially meet even more often. We will find a time that works with your schedule, and keep the same time for you once a week. If your schedule changes, I will find a different time for your session.
Give me a call and we will discuss your needs to make counseling possible for you. If you would like to use your insurance, contact your insurer for your coverage and co-payments. I will give you a receipt every month for you to send to your insurance company for reimbursements. With or without insurance, give me a call and we can discuss how therapy can be affordable for you. MasterCard & Visa are accepted.
My goal is to help you make some positive changes as quickly as possible. Most major changes take a period of six to twelve months. Your length of therapy depends on your needs, and you will evaluate your needs as we go along. You will also decide when to end our sessions as you meet your goals.
I see clients Monday through Thursday until 6 or 7PM, and Friday until 1PM. My earliest hours start at 8AM on Thursdays and Fridays. We will try to set up the same time for your appointment each week. If your schedule fluctuates, we will adjust our times each week. If your commute becomes a problem with your schedule, we can have some of your sessions over the phone in order to save you time.
